Today, in our society, many parents do not accept the concept of the Rights of the child. They think that if this is a child, then he or she is under the power of the parents, and they can treat the child as they want. Assistant to the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Anna Safaryan emphasizes that first of all, the parent should be aware of the rights of the child and respect them.

“Parental education ends where the violation of the rights of the child begins. The parents should think, whether they are allowed to limit the child’s rights, which are considered untouchable and inalienable, by upbringing,” she says.

Anna Safaryan stresses that psychological and physical violence against a child can in no way be justified by traditions and national mentality. “In the Armenian culture, the violence against children has never been a ‘tradition’, this expression is often abused in Armenia”, the assistant minister notes.
